Price check

Ran into a flat spring hi wall today.  4 digit serial number.  32 special caliber? I think.  Hex barrel.  no finish minor pitting, stock salvagable.  How much is a rifle like this worth?  Asking was $850 and I wasn't quite ready to jump on it at that.
Thanx,
Pat

That's probably more than you want to pay for it, but if you will send me the guy's address and phone number...   Roll Eyes

That is just about what a good action is going for, and if it will clean up to be a nice original, you could normally expect to pay at least half again that price for it (already shined up) on Gun Trader or at auction.  This is based on current asking prices in the mid-Atlantic, and what I am seeing on the Internet... YMMV.

Froggie

PS At that age it's probably a .32-40 rather than .32 Spl and it almost assuredly has an octagonal barrel rather than a hexagonal one.  GF

Duh, not sure what my fingers were typing when I said hex, of course octagon.  And it was 32 special.  Could have been rebarrelled of course.

Given all the good & bad baloney that's been written about .32 Winchester Specials, I would grab that one just to find out for myself (if I could afford it).  A 4-digit SN far predates the 32 WS, so it is either a re-barrel or a re-chamber job, or maybe just a replaced lower tang.  At any rate, the price is very right.  Grab it.  Then try it out and report back on the 32 WS.

I haven't seen a complete Hi wall in working order (any condition) under $1,000 for years around here!

Origional HiWall in .32 Special is very rare. Fits into the collectable market as to rareity. That is if its all as it should be. No rechambering.
