Seriously, a very versatile action, easy to take down for cleaning, normally a good trigger on them, and if you get one with a good barrel, very accurate!  The only downside is that if you do mount a scope, it can be a little difficult to load/unload.  Of the earlier versions, the 12/15 with a pistol grip and heavy 29" barrel can easily be re-worked into a Schuetzen rifle with stock work and a new buttplate.  PM me and I can send some photos of one I did.

The Mark II International,(and the Mark III and IV, I believe, are the same basic action) is as good any anything ever made. They probably have the best trigger, and the best part is that they are legal for Schuetzenfest competition. My Mark II is probably the most accurate rifle I own, and I have two Rem 40X's and and  an Anschutz 54(which is a close second). The BSA's were available for about $500 until recently, and maybe still are, but I have not been in the market lately. They have the fastest lock time of any action, and the factory criteria for acceptable accuracy was 1" at 100 yds. Most have been well cared for. As always, ymmv. Joe S

As far as .22LR BSA martini's go, you have two groups. The ones like Mr Boulton's are often called small frame martini's while the ones like Mr Robertson's are the International Match series. Depending on your needs, either can be used but one may be better than the other. For dedicated small bore shooting, the International Match rifles are more desireable due to the adjustable triggers and better sights (I did not say superior sights as sights for both types are very good, only the International Match sights are a bit better IMHO). The small frame guns make excellent all round guns from informal shoots to hunting arms. I have a couple of articles written in the Journal describing these guns. Check with the Archivist for copies of them. Dollar wise, any of the BSA martini's have been going up due to the fact they have not been manufactured since the 1980's for the International Match rifles and the mid to late 1950's for the small frame guns. However, good deals are still out there. Check with John Appleton in Front Royal VA or MT Guns. Those are the two big dealers. Good luck and if you have questions, feel free to PM or Email me.
