HELP, Need Info from Moline Il.

Hi All,
Can someone out there help me.
I sent a Stevens Schuetzen rifle I had Fred Miller at Mid-America Recreation build for me back for repairs on 8/21/08 and It was supposed to be back by 12/1/08 at the latest.
The last time I talked to Fred Miller was 12/3/08 and he said he had been in Europe working a deal and he admitted he had been remiss with my rifle and said he would get right on it and get it to me.
That was the last contact I had with him. No one answers the phone there.
According to the business listing he is supposed to have two machine shops and a shooting range at his location at 1328 5th Ave., Moline Il. 61265.
I got to find out something, I'll be leaving soon for our Texas R&R and shooting trip. I had planed to put the MVA scope Santa brought on it w/ the 40/60 barrel and using it there, gess not!!!
I'd like to know;  Is he DEAD???   Hospital???  Should I start legal action!!!!He did say he is using some local guy (ffl) to run his buy's and sell's through and he still is listing rifles on the G&A auction sight.
I used to post some but after overcomming puter/net problems have been content to lurk. Plus that proliffic/ eloquent So. Joyzee cuz of mine puts the John-Boy name out there enough.
Some know me, [sub-sailer, Moody], I'm the John-Boy from NC., but I'm a nice guy so help me get my rifle back home please,
                               TIA,   John

John-Boy, Had a freind that had this problem a few years ago. Dealer had kind of dropped of the map. He ended up sending a Registered letter, reciept required and asked if the Dealer/Smith had ever heard of Postal fraud. All of a sudden the guy was available and he had his two actions with the new barrels all fitted up in about three weeks. Don't know if you shipped by US postal. but even if you only sent any check through the mail it counts. Hope all comes out OK for you. FITZ.

I live in QC area and have not heard Fred had died yet so believe him to be ussual Fred. Reputation is Can be real slow unless he gets interested. Registered letter maybe the best approach. Machine shop and range are at same sight.

You will get faster action if you contact the Postal Inspectors. Explain that you have exhausted all normal channels of communication. (Send that Registered Letter, return receipt requested)  If you have not had a reply, even a returned letter in one week call the Inspectors and tell them you are possibly the victim of mail fraud.l

Had the same problem some years ago with a gunsmith in Montana who was supposed to be good at working on Winchester lever guns.

I found the least expensive and fastest way to get my Rifle back was hire a private dectitive in his area. One was recomended by the local sherrif and for a resonable amount he went to the shop and came away with my rifle.  All I had to do was prove ownership and formaly request he obtain my rifle.

Lot quicker than getting the goverment involved.

Try calling Shooting Sports Unlimited, Jim Bartel. He owns a gun shop around the corner from Freds place. He should know if Fred is still kicking. 309-797-2222
