Hi to all,

We'll I've been lurking for a while and have learned alot from the posts, finally have something to share.  I just starting collecting single shots a little over a year and a half ago, thanks in part to a couple of forum friends.   Figured I could share my lastest acquistion a Stevens 49-44, although not on par with a lot of the fine rifles you all have, i'm tickled   Smiley, Have a stevens scope in the safe (no 475) that once i can find someone who has or can make blocks will be joining it.

Stevens 49-44 .22LR along with fellow 47 44-1/2 .22short

Kinda of addicting...

They have there issues, ballard was competely restored, but all original man its a little tack driver. One day i hope to teach firearm safety to my two young daughters with it!   So far stuck with the .22's and one .32 hope to reach the big bores one day!

Thanks for an informative forum.

Darin,

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your fine looking collection.  I'm happy to see you are concentrating on the finer grades of the Stevens genre so the I will have a chance at the junkers  Wink.  Both your 44 1/2 and 49 are out standing (Ballard too).

Welcome to the insanity, Darin.  Nice looking collection.  Where are you located?

Thop, you'll have to fight me for the bottom of the barrel projects!  Oh, wait, never mind, you can have 'em.   Grin

Mighty nice start of a collection. The darn things just seem to keep multiplying in my garage! That is the only problem with this hobby. Welcome and enjoy.

Nice, I have always considered the 49 one of the more pleasing of the Stevens line. Welcome by the way.

Thank for the welcome.  Now back to keepin' my eyes peeled for the next deal Wink

As I mentioned would any forum member have a set(s) of scope blocks they would care to part with or perhaps a recommendation on a machinist or gunsmith that could produce some inexpensive blocks.

Thanks,
Darin

Also contact Steve Earle, steven.m.earle@comcast.net.  He wasn't real quick on delivery on my last order, but his workmanship is nice and prices are right.  His rear bases are two holes, not three as on the ones from Champion or Brownells, so they look much better when the scope is off of the rifle.

Hey Guys --- Just wanted to add a note RE: sight blocks acquired
from Mr. Steve Earle.  During the past 60 days, I've sent a number of
orders to Mr. Earle, and each one has shipped out to me within two
days max.  That's really quick, and better than most suppliers I deal
with, and in recognition of Mr. Earle, let me put in a plug for his
products as well as his shipping schedule.         Wink

oodmoff,

Nice rifles indeed! I know that 47  .22 short is a shooter also!
What a great addiction to have.
Some of us will just have to keep saving. Wink

Ballards may be weaker,
