Hey Schuetzen Bob!
I am new to the ASSRA and have questions about my ORIGINAL AYDT.
It's a 7.7x46R and in good shape??? the age of this rifle ,I am not sure
1894? It's a large frame ? and have only shot it a few times. Im using
a 3.15 lead bullet and a 32-40 brass cut and fire formed.
Not sure of charge I used 21gr. of IMR 3031
Thanks Randy

hey duce,

let me be the first to give you a hearty wecome and a big HOWDY.. that done, hope you'll be around for a looog time.

up at the top of the general section, ibelieve, there is a section called schuetzen loads, should be alot to pick thru.

to me, 21 gr of 3031 doesn't sound good. try the 2227 or the AA loads instead.

btw, nice gun..

2nd mistake, in the loading section, not the general

tt.g (ta ta grampa) short for ..ttfn..grampa.. only used for an oops or a PS

Hi Grampa,

I was a member of Brea R&P for about ten years, or until Union 76 decided that they didn't need a rifle range any more, at that time I lived in Orange County, but I left there long ago. I live in the Santa Rosa Mountains not far from Anza, and go back and forth to matches in San Diego and Phoenix, this coming Thanksgiving there's a three day match in Phoenix.

As to the 8.15 X 46R, I haven't shot one of those for many years, but it's very close to 32-40, I think some of the German Schuetzen shooters will have some loads for you.

Bob

PS that looks like a very nice Aydt!

Grampa,

As I recall, the proof marks on the bottom of the barrel of a typical 8.15 X 46R show the nominal bore diameter as 7.7mm, but this is the bore diameter not the groove diameter, most of the 8.15 I've looked at have a groove diameter of around .316, however you need to slug the bore and make a chamber cast to be certain.

Ol_Deuce,

My Aydt likes 14.2Gr  of IMR 4227 with a 182gr bullet.  My other 8.15x46r likes 15gr of 4227.

Mine is right in that same load range, but the barrel is about .320" on the groove diameter, so I've been able to use bullets for the 32-40.  Take a chamber cast and slug your bore!   Cheesy

The Original AYDT as far as I can find out ,Is That it was made by the
inventer of that style of action. In about 1875-'76 when the action came to be. I have been told that AYDT and Christian Sharpes were very good
friends. Thats about all the History I am good for!!!!On this rifle.
I will post the pictures
Thanks Randy
