Why dont u want the barrel drilled?
that would be the best solution to ur problem. Or u could make a sleeve and braze a block to it. I have a Remington scope designed to mount on the receiver. Unertl made one also. they will cost u as much as a good modern target scope. u have more scopes to choose from if u use the receiver mts. I like the redfield and buris one piece bases.
Lots of luck
Tom

Why? Mail gun to gunsmith = $28, gunsmith charge $30, mail gun back to me $28. $86 total for hole drilling.

For what is the purpose are u buying this rifle? if u are going to compete with it the scope mt. isn't ur only problem. Spend some time at benchrest centeral. Ebay has a lot of receiver mt. target scopes in the $100 range that will work just as well if not better than the lyman.

I did the same on a Haenel KK Sport 22LR… but I used the Lyman 20MJT as the globe is LARGER. Using the Shaver insert(s)… good stuff.
