I hope I am not speaking out of turn here but I beleive there may be a new record for 10 shot 200 yard group. Today I saw a target fired in competition at Etna Green on which the 10 shot group was a bit over .655". The group was a bit low of center toward 6 o'clock and if I recall the target scored scored 248. This by a gent who, I believe, recently fired two 250s in one relay!

Yep Don, nice target wasn't it.

Dale, was deep in thought and in a groove.
Once you shoot next to a guy for some years you get to know his body language.

I asked him if he had the conditions down, he said he was shooting low in the center but had a good hunch he was shooting a record target so didn't want to worry bout the score so much.

There were two shots with the center of the bullet just off the line, making the target a 248-8. It was went over with overlays and anything else that could be found to determine if they were in of not.

The group measured .655" center to center in the two widest shoots.

The hole at 10 was the widest, IF it would have been a bit closer to the rest of the holes it would have been maybe .150" tighter.

His barrel groove dia is .308"

Yep he shot the 2 250's in the same relay earlier this year, in the daily agg match, which he won btw. Won the one over the weekend too.

No it`s not a ASSRA record because it was shoot on a score target!
Just great shooting!
Just like the Rowland was not a record!
Just great shooting!
I would like to say that Steve Garbe will put it in his WSU unlimited class as a new 10 shot group record! He did mine anyway.  Dale`s group should replace my record in the WSU Unlimited Class

I understand that it was not shot on a score target. But is it the smallest 10 group ever shot and witnessed?

I hope Dale does a detailed article about his wind doping, techniques, etc. Also, I hope the Journal shows a picture of this smallest 10 shot
group in the history of the sport.

Fellows it will all be in the Mag!
Just hold your pants on!
Doesn`t matter about what he was using!
He`s on a roll and wouldn`t make any difference what he uses!
Dales been shooting SS for a long time and knows what he`s doing!
Plus he don`t do PC!

"Doesn`t (sic) matter about what he was using! "

Sure it does, I know many who would like to know if he used traditional or modern equipment.  Impressive shooting and knowing the equipment will help us better understand how it came about.

I can't tell you the exact info, because I don't know rather than it's some secret,  but it was not a traditional rifle. Stock is a benchrest style one piece laminated wood affair. Dale, like Jim, are exceptional shooters and can read the wind very, very well. I wish either or both would write how to read the wind.

Dale don't read no stinking wind.

He waits until I shoot then he does, OR the little guy in red with horns that sits on his shoulder is saying shoot now to him.

His action is a NYWSS action with a Pac-Nor barrel with a .308 groove dia.

The action was made from a casting that Warren Greatbatch made up a few years ago. Dale built his own block and trigger. as Keith said the barrel is a pac-nor .30 in a 1:10 twist. It is chambered in 32-30 Rem. and the bullet was from a Borton mould.

I asked if I could rub against him to see if anything would rub off on me. He said it wouldn't work. Oh well, it was worth a try!
