(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) I had a 60mm Sky and Earth that I used from 50ft to 100yds and had no problems. I could see 22 holes at 200 yds when a bud couldn't see his with his Kowa 821. He was flabergasted.
In the last few years I decided on a 80mm objective and after doing lots of reading and checking thru some 80 mm I ordered the larger Nikon, and it has better resolution than a 60mm, whatever go for at least an 80mm.
Straight or angled is fine. The only difference is the angled focus's on the angled mirror where the straight focus's right on the object you are looking at.
With a "reflex" you can get a spot of dirt on the mirror and it is a bit distracting.
With Optics Planet you will get your order fast, if in stock, and you can return it for any reason with in 30 days or what ever it is.
And free shipping to you.
And they have most every other spotting scope on the market.
You can buy in any price range you want.
Would I buy another Nikon...Sure would.
And there are NO problems with a variable power scope.
Don't worry about that at all.
