I was wondering if the Browning B-78 Highwall and 1885 Highwall receivers are the same? I am refering to the receivers that have no tangs. Stocks attach with a through bolt much like a shotgun stock.

Can anyone tell me for sure?

As far as I can tell without tearing down and putting on a CMM (coordinate measuring machine) they appear to be the same receiver, with the one exception being the upper pin locking the trigger machanism in place on the 1885.The triggers are totally different and the B78 extractor is 3/8" wide vs. 1/8" for the 1885, but the ones I have torn down the 1885's are cut for the 3/8" extractor.
