	ALL, I am not sure just how many of you all have been paying close attention to the legal battle going on about gun ownership but i have. A whole bunch of folks overseas have also as they missed the boat on gun ownership. Anyway the Supreme Court kicked in thier heels and told D. C. No, No. We can all own guns to defend ourself period. No question about it. So now the big question is just how may of the old laws and and rules on how we play the game out the window. I for one would love to see the big one, the 1968 Gun Control Act thrown out. I live in the confused state of California and I think at this time all of our states anto gun nuts may be purchasing planes tickets to go somewhere safe like Austrailia where the good folks are not allowed to own or posses guns but the crooks are. Hell the English/ Austaralian Police will protect there sad asses won't they? Who knows, maybe in a year my state could be a right to pack state too. Mike

	Well done, a wise decision by the US Supreme Court. The struggle may have to go on at State level, but with the Supreme Courts deision behind you,it should be much easier than before. How I wish we had a Supreme Court in the UK to remove some of the idiotic decisions made by some politicians. Our 1997 Handgun ban was supposed to eliminate firearm crime, guess what, it's up 400%. I would suggest you lay in a supply of earplugs though, just to shut out the whinging and wailing from the liberals and the anti gun ownership people. Harry.

	I would like to say one thing about the ruling. It should have been a unanimous ruling instead of 5 to 4.

	I too was amazed that four of our supreme court justices, who are to be highly educated, can not read.

	Here's the scary thing; Our next president will have the opportunity (almost certainly) to nominate at least TWO justices to the Supreme Court. At least ONE of those, perhaps both, will be Justices that were in the slim Majority of this decision. Our NEXT challenge before the court will likely be before the two or more justices the next president nominates. That puts quite a point on the question of which candidate is the "lesser evil", doesn't it.... Paul F.

	I just finished scanning through the entire decision. I cannot believe that one of the disenting Judges actualy said that he just cannot believe that the second ammendment was meant to allow people to a keep loaded handgun in their home. This guy scares the blazes out of me. He does not have a clue. While it is true that any decision can be overturned by a later group of Supreme Court Judges, historicly they are reluctant to overturn previous decisions. There was a reference to the first ammendment being applied to radio, tv and the internet. This is a possible basis to overturn assault weapons bans.

	Not having the money to afford a gun is a lot better than not having the right to own one. One is a temporary condition, the other is permanent. Most of us have more guns than we need and guns are really not very expensive unless you are into serious target shooting or collecting. The real battle is not over, and will continue with each election at the state and local level. The value of the Heller decision is that it protects against outright gun bans and extreame regulations such as keeping the gun dissassembled in your home. The decision leaves a lot of room for "reasonable regulation" which could entail registration, waiting periods, background checks, storage requirements, training, etc, etc, etc. The dissenters do not base their decision on legal precedent, if they did, it would have been a unanimious decision. They based their dissent on their own political views, which emphasizes the point that our struggle is still a political one in which every election is important. We nened pro-second amendment people in congress and at the state and local levels, as well as the White House. A pro-gun congress, even with an anti-gun zealot like Obama, might be able to block a liberal judge appointment which could meaning preserving our slender majority on the Supreme court. Our opponents will not give up, and we cant either.Joe S

	Barack Obama says he thinks the Supreme Court made the right decision, going so far as to characterize it as an endorsement of views he holds: "I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms, but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures. The Supreme Court has now endorsed that view, and while it ruled that the D.C. gun ban went too far, Justice Scalia himself acknowledged that this right is not absolute and subject to reasonable regulations enacted by local communities to keep their streets safe. Today's ruling, the first clear statement on this issue in 127 years, will provide much-needed guidance to local jurisdictions across the country. As President, I will uphold the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun-owners, hunters, and sportsmen. I know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne. We can work together to enact common-sense laws, like closing the gun show loophole and improving our background check system, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals. Today's decision reinforces that if we act responsibly, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe."

	Translation: "I will protect the right to keep and bear arms for the police, armed security guards, and the Government at all levels, because everyone else is a potential criminal or terrorist, and hunters and sportsmen should have no problem with England like laws, up to and including a full 6-month background check, cooling off periiod, and body cavity search for purchasing a firearm... after all, it's for the CHILDREN". I think you've made it clear who you're voting for. It's your right, but it's a mistake.
