Can anyone give me an idea of what a Winchester lo-wall that the barrel is trash and the stock is not much better might be worth? Basically the action is the only good part and it seem to be in good shape.

In my area, the Puget Sound, it would go for about $300.00 to $500.00.
for a plain trigger, center fire.

I think.

Thats a difficult question to answer. It seems the prices are all over the place depending on where in the country it's being sold.  People with lots of money dont mind paying a higher price. And then there's people like me who are on a small fixed income who have to beg for scraps and --- Well , you know what I mean .    Wink

When I have one, I generally sell a clean, blueprinted low wall action for $400. At present I'm fresh out, however.

In this context 'blueprinted' means that all systems have been checked and adjusted to operate properly and all dimensions are within (the somewhat loose) original factory specs, IOW unaltered original parts will fit properly. This does not include any accuracy or safety improvements, it includes only checking & ensuring a clean basically unaltered action. It takes from 2-4 hours to transform a gun show junker into such a 'blueprinted' action, generally including some parts swapping back & forth with my parts box. Deduct for any aftermarket 'improvements' and add for a set trigger or original PG.

I generally am lucky (?!) enough to get low wall junkers for ~$300 most of the time, and this is usually less than the parts will bring.
JMOFWIW, good luck, Joe

The last Low Wall I bought a coupla years ago I paid $750. The barrel needed to be re-lined, but the stock was good, and it had a SST. There were some "problems" with it that made the price that low. Normally it would have gone for over a $1000. But it lettered ok. Others like it that "look" ok go for around $1000 and up around here. (Central IA). Mostly up, depending on condition. I've never seen just an action for sale but the consensus around here is that they would go for $5 or $600. High Wall actions are figured to start at $750 and go up.

Here in the mid-Atlantic the same rifle/action might be a little bit higher, probably bringing $500 in the condition you mention and perhaps a bit more.  There is a guy on e-Bay who seems to be buying them up and selling them for parts as I see such parts from the same dealer pretty frequently.  I don't know where he is, but that has to have an effect on the prices of parts and whole guns.  BTW, what is the condition of the fore end?  For some reason survival of butt stocks exceeds that of fore ends for low-walls by a considerable margin.

Joe,

Are we neighbors? I live on the west side of the Puget Sound.

$500 is closer to the mark... typically.
