Brent,

The barrel length has not changed, it is still 34".
The rifle was made by Axtell, so  barrel maker by whoever Axtell uses
(Badger?)
I do not know the twist rate.
Sorry to say, the rest of the rifle does NOT look like the action. It looks like the stock, barrel, forearm, buttplate and tang/globe sights.
If you own an Axtell, you know what the quality is like, yes?
I can weigh the rifle if you are interested in buying it.

Chris, I do know what an Axtell looks like.  That one above, the one leaning on a fence post - that's mine.

And I know that the rest of it is not an action, but is ain't engraved head to toe either so that's not much help.

Several makers barrels have been used on Axtell's.  Some are Badger, some are not.   

Some are 18" twist, some are not. 

It matters.  A lot.   

I might be interested in it, but not until I know the details of that barrel.

I spoke with Axtell Rifle this afternoon.
Barrel is a 1 in 18 twist, cut rifled  Badger.
Engraving on the other side of action is just as nice, no animals, initials, etc.

That is a beautiful rifle and that barrel is definitely in the "good enough" category.  At 34" it may not make weight but if it does, I might have to review my tax return (I'm a procrastinator par excellent).   

Maybe easier than weighing the rifle, you could measure it across the flats and at the muzzle and tell us if it is full or half/octagon.   At 34" it is going to be close to going over the 12lb 2oz  max for bpcr.

If it does not have a recoil reducer in the butt stock it should make weight. The '77 has a much lighter action than the '74. I think it will weight about 11.00 - 11.5 lbs. (depending on wood) Check with Carmen for further details ... or have the rifle weighted before spending the $$$.

Can save you a phone call there, rifle weight with sights (windgauge front and long range vernier) goes 12lbs 9oz. on my postal scale.
It has an optional checkered steel shotgun buttplate and according to the Axtell ad it does have a recoil reducer in the buttstock ( I have not removed the plate to verify this).
Barrel is part octagon/part round (medium/heavy)as advertised on the Axtell website.
Seems to me this rifle is more suited for Lodi and the Long Range ranges.

My Axtell in the picture that I posted above does not make weight.  It has a 34" 1/2 octagon barrel too.  Hence my question.  Mine does not have a recoil reducer either.  It is a full pound+ over.

If the rifle is a mere 12lbs 9 oz with the recoil reducer in place just removing the device should easily bring the rifle down to weight.  However, since most of the weight will have come from the buttstock it's going to be real muzzle heavy.

I agree BOATS.  I have to believe that if you are renowned for making one of the finest, if not the finest, Sharps side hammer (77) reproductions on the market, and you are selling as many as you can make, it must be a risky business decision to take on another line and go through all the expense of tooling up and expanding your operation for a new rifle.  As good as they may be with their current product, there is bound to be growing pains with the first production items and the potential that those problems could taint the reputation  they have garnered with their current product has to be a consideration.  I suspect this may be the reason Shiloh has been slow to offer a Borchardt also.  The semi custom reproduction gun market may not support another Borchardt.  THOP
