	During the '40s and '50s, a lot of shooters (especially those in small bore) had their levers modified by the addition of various shaped balls, pistol grips, etc. Does anybody have any pictures of such additions that they like and would be willing to share? My shooting partner just got his first low-wall, and the lever's tail had been straightened slightly and a threaded hole drilled near the end, so I am assuming that was the reason. If you can refer me to pictures in books, etc, that would be helpful as well. I plan to go through my various Grant books tonight in hopes of finding something. As always, TIA! Froggie

	The 9th Edition of "Cartridges of the World" has a picture of one on page 159 that looks very classy. It's shaped for a pistol grip stock.

	Thanks, Steve and Vall. The one I was thinking of, I was reminded by Dale53, was used on one of CC Johnson's personally built rifles for his family and which his grandson kindly loaned for pictures for a recent SSR-J article. The plain lazy-S lever is simply straightened slightly at the tail and a wooden pistol grip is affixed to it by a screw and inletting. It is very similar in shape to the pistol grips attached to the lower tangs of some Trap Door Springfields. Vall, was the ball and spur style on that Ballard ever offered by the factory that way? I believe that Stevens did it, but that may have been inspired by custom work on the contemporary Ballards. Anyway, thanks again to all who dug through their pix and memories to help. 	veiw 4 is the lever for the third grip, as you can see it was modified with the straight tang to attach to.
