A local shooter here makes these nifty ammo box's.  Has anyone ever seen one like it?   I think its neat, and want to show it off a little.  Smiley

Joe:

Glen Dickson from San Antonio designed the first box like this I saw several years ago. He sold them direct and through Buffalo Arms. He quit making them a couple of years ago. I understand the demand for them was to great for him to keep up with. Something to do with a day job. I have one of his early ones (I only had to wait about a year for mine) and I really like it. I saw several other knock off's at Raton last year.

morning joe, wayne.
wayne i do not think glen ever caught up on the orders he had. last I heard he gave his own away just to be finished. but they werte great.
I would like to have one but not that fancy. it would go good with my rimfire box.
so the big question is who is now making them and how much?

Irish 66, I have just the box your looking for and it will be on the prize table at the Mexia match in March. Make plans to come shoot with us and it could very well be riding back with you.

If I had a box like that it wouldn't matter how I shot! Everybody would be distracted from my targets! Wink That is really nice!

The Raton knock-off were made by Woody  (Richard Wood)
He saw Matt Carters in AZ a few years back in just had to see if he could make it.
He made and sold some in Raton last summer and is making them on request.  Very reasonable price.

Are you telling us you just got lazy a couple of days ago? I thought that happened over 50 years ago.

I'm not sure if he even wants to make them to sell yet. I'm haulin a load of maple to him today. I'll ask him. I swapped some walnut panels for the one in the picture. I can tell you that each box is different . Some even have bark inclusions.  Kind of artsy fartsy, which I like.   Cheesy

Very nice box!  Pity about the ugly background clutter...   Wink

Yeah, that old gun room is a real catchall.  I need to clean it up.

Ron the box maker never gave me an answer on the box's. So I assume he just makes box's for his shooting friends. If I hear he has some extras I'll post an alert.
