The question is not whether the work done would cost the price asked. No.

IMO the questionS are: first and regardless of the price, is the rifle in a configuration and of a level of fit and finish and detail that I the purchaser would have commissioned or at least can live with proudly? Many rebuilds may be done skillfully & expensively but may not be necessarily done to a particular person's taste.

And if the answer to the first question is yes, then the second question becomes, is the price a fair one?

I personally would a heckuvalot rather spend a little more up front to avoid 'settling' for something that's not really exactly what I want, even if it means having to commission it from someone else on a custom basis. Unfortunattely, though, sometimes the $ drive the decision.
Good luck, Joe

I understand completly, why buy someone elses frankenstein?,
but when you get into thousands vs hundreds it gets to be like buying a car.
All I can say for sure is barrel/action is Sharps.
The wood even may be repro.
At least my 1878 military, tho haggered,is all legit.

Even at this pricepoint, an Axtell1877 is within striking distance Wink
