Gwin & Campbell Rifle

Had a phone call from a friend, for a friend, who has an  excellent condition Gwin & Campbell Rifle (manufactured in Hamilton, Ohio during the Civil War).

The local authority on such matters has passed to his reward. Does anyone on this Forum have any idea who might be interested in this rare rifle? The only information that has been gathered is a similar rifle, in not very good condition, in an Auction with a starting bid of $10,000.

Dale, a quick on line check shows several for sale, 19thcenturyweapons.com has one 20% finish for 2650 and frontieramericana.com has one dead new condition for 5250. Afraid the 10 grand auction is just pie in the sky. Hope this helps Shocked

Dale, bear in mind too, that a localized market can add considerable value.
I've seen several rather hum-drum, late back-actioned basic cap-lock hunting muzzle-loaders go for nearly 500% of what their value would be anyplace else;  simply because they were one of the fen-known examples by a local community-based journeyman gunsmith.
Take the gun 500 miles away and it would have been next to worthless; but there in it's local community-of-origin it was legitematly a priceless local relic

There are many collectors of this type of carbine on the N-SSA website. North- South shooting Association. Google it for an address.
