DoubleD,
What is the source of that great illustration of the 577/450 Henry barrel you posted? I've not seen that one before. Very nice.

I am researching the correct head space measurement for the orignal 577/450 Martini Henry chamber.  I have found out that the maximun chamber is no more than 0.01 gap between the head guage and breech block.  Well and good, but what are the measurments of the head guage.  Not only has Leeds not been able to find a drawing of the head guage, they can't find the guage its self.

Of course we could always use modern CIP measurements, but I have found they are different than the original  and much tighter.  It has been my experience that the Martini round has a tendancy to bind in the action when chambered to tight.
