Fred, 7.5 x 55 Schmidt-Rubin is the proper designation.  Extractor has a spring loaded plunger with an external spring on the left side of the action.

Perhaps this rifle was built up as an Olympic free Rifle.   They shot free rifle in the 1896 Summer games and I think ever since then.
