Double D, this appears to be a Sight for a European (Read Kraut) Schuetzen Rifle. many of these were built by individual Gun makers of the time. Followed a standard pattern but were all just a little different. The Square mounting base gives it away. On close examination though it occurs to me that the style on this one is just a little more modern and I wonder if this is in fact a modern replacement built here in this country by or for someone that had a Rifle without a rear sight. The knurled knobs look just a little krisp to me. Read cleaner and better than normally seen on a close to 100 year old sight. Not a fault in any way, it looks to be in really fine condition. HTH, Regards, FITZ Smiley

P.S. On another look at the pictures the whole thing looks so good and crisp it makes me suspect it is a recently made in this country sight. Not a drawback by any means. A good test would be to inspect the threads and see if they are Metric or Decimal threads. FITZ. Smiley

Your sight is a Oskar Will design.  It look's as though it was made very late. 50s - 60s. Walther made sights very similar to it for their 22 match rifle's.  My guess is Walther or Weihrach.

The rifle it got seperated from. man, that could drive you crazy.

Thanks gents.  Kinda what I figured.

I don't think this is local made.  Well I guess it could be.  Applied numbers are more like the numbers you see on German/European marked items.

Is it standard to not put index marks adjacent to the scale on these things?

Anybody here need one?

just 'spekkalat'n.   maybe for a 22rf?   seems like the ranges of the scales is pretty small, either close range or a very flat shooting cartridge,  close range/22 seems most likely.  Maybe you'd find a zero for your chosen ammo and then apply an central indicator point for it.  then the factory marking would give you a little adjustmet each way.   TThat way the mfg would avoide having to accommodate a wide range of ammo types and velocities---again just guessing.
