Does anyone know the best way to get ahold of Wes Stanley. I am thinking of building a 1874 sharps now that i have a milling machine.Have called him three times and he has not returned my calls or left me a message. I have always wanted a Sharps but couldn't afford one, throught i'd build one for a project. Opinions?

Hello Singleshotsman,

I have tried both writing (snail mail) and telephone calls to Wes Stanley and had never received a written reply or an answer on the phone. I have phoned him during the hours stated on his website, which to me in the U/K is the middle of the night.

I note from messages on this, and other Gun Forum Boards that many others have had the same experience

In the end I gave up and started building my own action from scratch.

Some people have obtained kits or parts from him so he must be contactable sometime.

For someone carrying on a business, he seems to lack the acumen to keep potential customers happy.

All I can suggest is that you keep trying, or buy some plans and start from scratch.

I believe that the ASSRA Archavist has A4 size plans for $10.00 per set for the 1874 Sharps. You would need to enlarge these for ease of reading, but they would help you get started.

Harry

I have been able to reach him by both email and phone. But sometimes it has taken a while. When I talked to Wes a few months ago while ordering my Farrow re and de kit he mentioned a heavey gun show schedule that Frontier keeps. I am not sure if that includes both Wes and Rodney, but the impression was they travel a good bit and to keep trying. When you do get a hold of Wes, at least in my experience, he was so helpful I almost felt like I needed to pay for training or some kind of class! A wealth of knowledge and information as well as advice on how to approach building from the kits.
I'd keep trying.

I just sent Rodney an e-mail to see what is going on and mentioned about the inquiries for Wes.

Will let you know what I hear back.

This outfit surely likes to waste people's time. We all have to feed our families and trying to do business with a half a-- business person takes  precious time. He advertises in several magazines and then can't be reached. I decided to do better things with my life than try to contact Frontier Armory. Poor business practice. If he isn't going to honor his actions then he has no business advertising. Jerry

I just read a reply from Rodney to my earlier e-mail. He said that he has not talked to Wes in a while as he has been working out of town a lot lately (Rodney).

Maybe a snail mail, would be the best way to get a hold of Wes?

I can certainly understand this point of view... and respect it.

It has been my impression of Mr Stanley that this isn't so much a "business" as it is a more avocational venture.
As I recall from my contact with him, he has a job, AND a farm he has to keep running.
I am more understanding with folks that are hard to get a hold of BEFORE the sale than those that evaporate AFTER the sale... in my case, once I got a hold of him, asked my questions, and sent a check, I got the DS Cole casting set quite quickly.

And yes, I too have been too long sidetracked by other projects to make any serious headway... but that's no reflection on the kit! LOL!

Wes returned my calls tonight and he's got one(1) set of castings available, which i bought. He says he needs to make another casting run, which i believe.  All's well that ends well.
