Am. Rifleman on micro-fish

About two years ago I was searching to see if the Am. Rifleman was on disc. Someone replied that it was available on micro-fish from a college. I can't find the info on that. If someone could advise what college had this available, please let me know. If you have a phone number or website where I can contact for purchasing this I certainly would appreciate it. Thanks

Bob,
ISU has them.  Some are "in storage" and have to be recalled.  But it looks like those going back to 1976 are on the shelves.  What do you want?

I am interested in the issues prior to 1950, back to the first issue. Having them on disc or some other way than can be stored is what I am wanting to get. It is nice having the older issues on hand, but that is ending up taking up lots of room on the book shelves.

If you or someone else is interested, I have available the following issues of The American Rifleman;

1946 May, Ju, Aug,
1947 Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Oct, Nov
1948 Feb, Apr, Oct, Nov, Dec,
1949, Aug, Sep, Oct

$20 should cover them shipped to the lower 48. They are in good condition, although slightly yellowed and have a slightly musty smell.

Bob, it looks like the ISU collection starts in 1950 so I guess it is not of much help for you.

If you DO find them on Micro-Fiche (sp?), then they're awfully close to being "on disc"... the various microfilm/fiche formats can be scanned at high resolution and stored as .tiff images or .pdf files.

If you were to get a copy of the microfilm/fiche, I'd highly recommend getting it scanned.  I for one would love to be able to buy a copy on a DVD or set of CD's.

Have you tried contacting NRA to see if they may have it on film/fiche?  (I doubt it... but it's worth asking!).

Interesting, I sent my wife to the post office and they wouldn't take the magazines as media mail because they contained advertisements. They wanted $16 regular mail.
I labeled the box Media Mail, went to a different post office. They took the box without question and charged $5.19 for 9 pounds!

Ira,

And if the post office they go through to be delivered opens it and sees the inerds have ads in them they will return them to you, all at their costs.

Makes sense eh?

I had SSRJ's returned like that, had sent samples via media mail.

...and it's kinda hard to find ANY printed media that doesn't contain advertising.  This is the same USPS that will no longer give you one or two Priority Mail boxes, but will on request ship you a case of them for free.  Go figure!  Undecided
