I've got a browning 22 semi-auto I would like to have hot blue, does any one have any recommendations on where to have it done, web sight, or phone number. I sent it in to browning, they wanted to put it in mint condition for more then I could buy one for.

Hello weez, I aint real sure what that kind of gun you got is. If its got a regular steel barrel, just about any ole gunshop can throw a shine on it and dunker in the tank. Look in the yellow pages under guns or gunsmith or sportin goods store. If you look in this forum under singleshot rifles, you'll find( interesting links.) I think there might be a barrel dunker or two in there. I think most of um do single shot rifles. You never know, money talks. There was a kid in our nehgbor hood when I was akid he always had the best stuff. He had one a them automatcs. It always jammed. We used to spray liquid wrench in it. I had a bolt action Stevens shotgun. It never jammed. You should swap that automatic for a good single shot. My son still has a single shot stevens rifle I gave him when he was about eight years old. It has a simple peepsight and a good front sight I made for him. he loves that rifle, and I dont think it could be bought. Now if yer dad gave you that automatic you better hang onto it. I dont think he'd be upset if you got a good singleshot for a backup gun. Joe.

You can also go to Brownells web site. They have a gunsmith referral service, and can reccommend one in your area.

As a matter of policy, Brownells does not make any specific gunsmith recommendations. Don't have any way to know who is doing what type of work, or what sort of workmanship they are capable of, not to mention what quality of work they will actually do for you. You may want to check the American Custom Gunmakers Guild,

, for members who do metal finishing. Also, if you can do your own disassembly, polishing and reassembly, some shops who do bluing on-site will do "dunk" bluing...they count the parts, degrease, blue, oil and package for return for a much more modest fee than if they do the blue job complete.
