I have a Hopkins & Allen 22LR which I am using to shoot 22 shorts at 10 meters in my garage because my wife would not let me set up in our parlor.   Anyone have any experience doing this?  Any recommendations on ammunition?  Any tips on cleaning peculiarities due to the effects of the shorts?

I use CB Longs in my rifles and fire into an Outer's steel bullet trap @ 10 meters. Lots of fun, not much noise and no danger of damaging my LR chamber.
Good luck, Joe

I shoot standard velocity ammo into a old bullet trap that came out of the smallbore range at fort Lewis. Outside the shop it sounds like I'm pounding on something. Since I got critters for neighbors I don't get any complaints. I tried 22 shorts. After a hundred rounds or so the accuracy went away. I figured it must be fouling in the chamber, so just shoot LR now. I think after a while the shorts would erode the chamber a little. Some states allow silencers, Oregon is one of them. That sounds like a fun project. A indoor practice 22 with a silencer. Joe.
