Stevens 44 1/2 rifle question

First post......I have a pair of Stevens 44 1/2 rifles that are one number off from being consecutive and both are in some of the finest condition of any original Stevens that I have seen. I've considered putting them up for sale and would like to talk with a knowledgable Stevens guru before I go any further. Could someone here point me to that person? Any leads would be appreciated.
Take care,
Len

Len,
Being a long way from the USA I can't help you much, but, if you 'Google' Stevens 441/2 and look at any acution site that comes up, you should get an idea of what specimens in comparable condition are selling for. Try and check out if yours is a scarce variant or in a none standard calibre, You could also use the same method to see if there is a Stevens Collectors Association. There is one for Sharps Collectors.

First rule of selling, Do some research first, you don't want to get cheated.
Second rule, A dealer will always offer you less that he expects to sell it for. Why should he profit when you could?
Third rule. Don't accept the first offer, unless you have a 'live one'. Grin

I don't suppose your willing to hang onto them until I've won the National Lottery, I've been doing it for years, it must be my turn to win soon. Nah! I didn't think so.  Wink

Good luck.

Harry

Hi Len

If I were in your position, I would call Gary Quinlan.  I would pay his commission and let him sell them for me.

Thanks for the replies. I don't know of Gary Quinlan but wouldn't mind talking with him. I'm considering selling but not yet completely sold on the idea. One of the rifles is chambered in .25-21 and the other is .25-25 the serial number range for both is 1270X.
Thanks,
Len
