ARE SABOTS LEGAL IN ASSRA MEETS.

Well not to throw "stuff" in the fan nor to dispute Mr. H&K but how would a plastic sabot be different from a gas check? With the typical gas check the base of the bullet is exposed the fire and other happenings inside the barrel. With a plastic sabot the base of the bullet as well as the rest of the bullet is protected to some degree from the same conditions. If the base of the bullet was exposed in both cases, I would not dissagre. Therefor the discussion as to there is no difference between sabotted bullets and plain base bullets may continue. My call would be that plastic sabots and gas checks are in the same box for our shooting. "Not allowed"???

Well far be it from me to disagree with Mr. H&K or the green frog for that matter, I do know that plastic wads in black powder cartridges do make a real mess to clean out of the barrel.  I also agree that the plastic sabots are more trouble than they are worth.  Thanks Mr. H&K for your definative statement.  Still, an interesting question. 

My experience is that to shoot the best groups with sabots in a ML, the plastic fouling must be aggressively aorked on between shots. And that is with the high pressure/high temp sabots in a very slick barrel. My gut says let em use the things. they won't be a threat.
