Regarding the high wall in question: I know that you will find this hard to believe what an old gentleman has related to me in the coolness of an afternoon on the steps of an old store that after hearing of the recent discovery of the rifle after so many years. It seems that Jessica who had been asked along on the lion hunt by one of the younger nephews of TR had brought with her one of the newest contractions devised by Abercombi and Fitch, was  a portable privy which in those days was more like an out building.  It was on one of her trips down this path that she was required to be armed in case of a beast interlude that the rest of the story will ensue.  Upon opening the door to the privy she was met by the beady glaring red eyes of an enraged opossum.  Jessica was quick because time was of the essence.  She dispensed the opossom with a frontal to the brainpan, whisped the opossum away and proceeded with the business at hand.  From the corner of her eye she spyed a spider and fearing that another shot would raise a splinder in the board, she began to smash the spider with the butt stock of the rifle.  On the 3rd and final the spider was dispatched and so was the rifle which slipped from her hand and fell into the pit.  Business was finished and she returned to camp without further incident.  It was some years later on the same farm that a relative of Jessica's while seeking drainage in another area dug through this pit and discovered this long lost high wall.  This story was related to me by one of our own - a gentleman of the first order always seeking truth.  And I am glad to relate that this fellow, a speaker of truth and a great American, would share this story with us.  Your friend Ben A Shelor.

I had a Hiwall with a set trigger, decent shape, and sold it to a friend for less than half of what someone else offered me for it.Why?Because it was a friend, and he rebarrelled it to .38/55.
No,I do not think he will sell it!
