Lyman STS windage problem

Hi Folks,

I just got a Lyman Super Target Spot. This is my first experience with an outside adustable scope so bear with me. The windage knob would turn but will not click like the elevation knob. Removing both knobs from the mount reveals that the windage knob's little "L" shaped piece which keeps the center piece from turning has become detached. I cannot tell how it is attached on the elevation knob. This looks way too small for a spot of welding or something. Any ideas? I'd even be willing to buy a complete knob for the windage adjustment if need be.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Bilbo

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

If it were mine I'd pull the rear mount off, and send it to PArsons in Ohio.

I've had these apart, and remember that the "L" shaped piece is not attached to anything-it comes right out.
If you can't get it together right, and I think you can if you go slow, then send the whole scope to Parsons, don't take it apart further!!

My own experience with Parsons has been somewhat negative, I probably won't use them again. I got what I paid for, but it was two months late and required a number of phone calls. I was required to listen to a lot of weasel words, the guy sounded like a real Casper Milquetoast.

I was not impressed.

Good luck, Joe

I've had several dealings with Gill Parsons all good. If he can't fix something he will lead you to where it can be fixed. He has a lot of experience with the older target scopes.

My experence with Parsons Scope service is very good. Gill has fixed several things as well as given me good advice on old Scopes.

Most of the people who work on our old rifles and gear are one man shops and don't give "Jiffy Lube service"  You have to bear with them they do get backed up with repairs.
