I need some information on these scope rings.  A friend gave them to me.  I've never seen anything like them.  Thanks for the help.  Casper50

Man, are those cool or what? I have never seen anything like them before and my uneducated guess would be that they are unique, gunsmith made.

It looks to be a clever design. What I take to be the rear block (the one that mounts to a block) has the ring suspended on what I wold guess to be spring temper vertical wires or small diameter pins. The front ring is suspended in  slots at 6 and 9. I assume that this is all to allow the scope to move in recoil.

Good stuff. The would look Real Good on an early target rifle restoration.  Thanks.

Thanks Glen.  The other side of the front mount is not slotted.  I don't understand how a scope would be fitted to the rear mount.  The scope would have to be a straight tube to slip through the loosened ring, but how to tighten the screw at the bottom of the ring is the problem.  I thought they were pretty cool also. My friend bought them off of Ebay in England. I haven't cleaned the old dirt and grease off of them yet.  They still have quite a bit of case color left.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I'd guess they aren't extremely old, as they would require a scope with internal adjustments, since there doesn't seem to be any elevation or windage in these mounts. That would most likely put them near WWII era.
