My dealer thinks Hodgedons 4227 is being discontinued or at least his supplier is no longer carrying it. Can one use IMR 4227 as an exact dupicate or must  I re work my loads?

There is a difference between the two powders IMR 4227 and Hodgdons 4227. I think the Hodgdon version is a bit slower.  My 32-40 preferred the Hodgdon version.

Now I am confused. If one is slower than the other why do you say thier is no difference. Seems they are different. Yes?

I suspect but don't know for sure that there would be as much difference lot to lot than Hogdon to IMR.

I don't think Hogdon makes 4227 just packages IMR bulk powder.

Anybody know for sure ?

marsh;
            I think I recall C. Hogdon saying [98 Schuetzenfest] that the only powder they actually made was Pyrodex. leadball
