Found this Stevens at the Reno Hilton show. it's a model 49 Walnut Hill in .22LR, with 30" heavy barrel, Lyman 103 tang sight, Lyman combination front sight, double set triggers, and a great bore! Haven't had it to the range yet, but hopefully soon!

Great find!  If it shoots half as good as it looks, it'll be a keeper for sure!

This is one fine rifle--I find these early 44 Stevens Schuetzen rifles about as easy to look at as any rifle ever made.  leadball

Thanks leadball! I prefer the looks of the Stevens 44 over the 44 1/2, and in .22LR, it's  more than strong enough!

Thanks guys! Had to drive 600 miles to a gun show, only to buy it from a friend who lives 8 miles away from me! Funny how things work out!

Marlinguy, what you doing with a Stevens? I think you should sell that gun to me to keep your collection pure what cha think

very nice gun have ya shot it yet? man that gun is a keeper. makes me wonder what comes over poeple when they sell guns like that.

Vall I got a lead on a Ladies Stevens about 90% overall with swiss butt  do you have any $ amount would be a fair price to be paid for such a gun prices have not been discussed but I am afraid it will be in the 2000 to 3000 bracket

Hi Rafter,
I only know of two Stevens Ladies rifles. One is Gary Quinnlinn's, and the other belongs to a close friend of mine. They are extremely rare, and in the condition you described, $2,000 would be a super bargain. I'd guess it would be more in the $3,000 range in 90%.
I finally made it to the range last week with the Stevens 49. Started out at 50 yds, and it shot groups of 1". Moved to 100 yds. and it kept them right at 2", with a couple flyers that the shooter couldn't control.
I'm pretty pleased with it, as it will outshoot my Win. 52, and my other Stevens match rifle.
