I may be interested in relining a Win Highwall musket barrel. What can I expect to pay for a quality relining job and who do you recommend to do the work. What else do I need to know about the subject? I am completely ignorant on the subject. Thanks! Joe S

Hi - I had a Stevens Favorite relined a couple of yrs ago by Redman's in Wa State and was very pleased with the work.  If I recall correctly, I believe it was $185.  I think they advertise in the ASSRA Journal.
Regards, Joe

Joe_S,

I've had two barrels relined by Redman and was very satisifed also. Of course there are several others who can do the job well to. But Redman's the only one I have experience with other than several done locally.

It's been a while since I had him do a re-line for me but at the time he was limited to the calibers he was doing so you would have to be sure and find out what he can do. Of course this would apply to anyone doing the job.

Not a whole lot you need to know about the subject. Basically you call the 'smith you want to do the job, tell him what barrel diam. you have, and caliber & twist you want, so he can tell you if the liner he'll use can be put in your barrel. Be kinda hard to put a .45 cal. liner in a #1 barrel.  Grin Be sure and ask him if there's anything else he needs to know, and if he recommends something different from your idea of what is right. If everything works out ok you send the gun out to him.
