Martini Action .22 Schuetzen

I have been wanting to start a project leading to a .22 schuetzen rifle.  Would one of the smaller BSA Martini .22 actions be a place to start?  I would like to have a nice barrel put on and have it stocked in a traditional manner.

Probably Way Off,

Dwight

I suggest the BSA MKII international. The triggers are externally adjustable and very good, you wont have to rebarrel, and they have the fastest locktime around .  The lightweight model weighs about 9.5 pounds, the heavy weight rifles weigh 12 or 14 pounds. Very competitive out of the box, if you want to re-stock one, the sky is the limit. I dont know anyone who has one that is not 100% satisfied.  They are available for around $500 in excellent condition. Good luck! Joe S

Look in the last JOurnal in Dale's article on the match at EG.  there is a picture of Frank Zika and a 22rf Martinin based schuetzen he is working on---really slick looking.  If you PM Dale when he gets back home, he may possibly be able to email you a better picture of it

I have a MKIII  BSA Martini, but it has got to be too heavy for anything but a prone gun, which is what I bought it for.  The MK II seems like it would be a bit lighter, and the barrel is threaded into the action which would make it a bunch easier to rebarrel.  I am going to join the ASSRA, and buy as many books as I can get my hands on.  Could I put a schuetzen butt hook and a palm rest on the MKII ?  If anybody knows the fellow with the Martini based schuetzen, I would love to have a picture.  freepistol@gmail.com  Thanks for all your help!

Respectfully,

Dwight

Al Freeland made the "hook" Buttpltae you are looking for, I believe. It Is fully adjustable. I don't think anyone is currently producing one but they pop up used. My cousin, kkt313, bought one and loves it. And it looks cool to boot! Jon

Hello All,
I have been looking into this for a little while. I did find a nice adjustable butt plate with a removable hook. I plan on using one on my MKII. I'm still looking for a stock pattern. If anyone has or knows about a pattern for the MKII? I would love to get any info you have on it. I'm still chasing some leads.

The Master Class hook butplate looks great!  Is it OK to use something like that instead of a tradional fixed schuetzen buttplate?
