I have a Danish M-1867 Rolling Block that has been modified to take centerfire 11.7x51R cartridges ( No. 59574 on the barrel behind rear site left side). Unfortunately some one has also removed the standard sites and replaced them with a rather ugly peep site arrangement. Need some help finding ammo and hopefuly fixing the sites. The sites don't have to be authentic but it would be nice to return this gun to it's original look. thanks for any help.

I have never tried this, but I have been told that there is not much difference between the Danish centerfire 11.7 x 51 R conversion and our .45-70.

Many of the Danish conversions had a modified breech block with a "stopper" that kept the block from coming back unless you pushed it in and deliberately opened the block.  IIRC, the Danes had 3 different loadings, the lowest power for Remington-made rifles, then a middle power load for Danish made rollers, and a high powered load for rifles with "stopper" blocks.  My Danish in-laws said that most of the old rollers went into the fishing fleet or went to Greenland.  Either way, they did not stay in original long rifle condition for long.  Many were converted into line-throwing & flare-launching guns.  The others were used to shoot seals and the odd polar bear.  If I had one, I would be a lot more interested in how many trips to the Arctic the old girl made rather than fix it up for parading with the guardsmen in Copenhagn.  The odd sights may tell a good story.
