Ok all you gun cranks.  I need help in  loading data  and  mold selection for a .22 Hornet.  .224  bbl and a 1/15 1/2 "twist?

I have had good luck with the Hornet using ball powder in the range of H110, Win 296, and Carbine Ball. I have found it helpful to try pistol primers - sometimes makes a serious difference. This is all with jacketed bullets in a strong action, of course.

I have had really good luck with cast bullets, using gas checked linotype bullets with Unique. Linotype casts extremely well with these small, sometimes hard to cast bullets. Further, the bullets use so little alloy, that you shouldn't worry about using up lots of somewhat expensive linotype. You will probably need a rather short (light) bullet with that  15" twist. I have done little cast loading with plain base bullets in the Hornet (didn't shoot them in ASSRA style matches).

Mentioning the 25/20 Winchester, I found that in a strong actioned rifle, the use of RL-7 worked wonders behind a Lyman cast bullet of 70 grains (lino with gas check). Had three stellar loads in a Marlin lever rifle (new one). One was maximum load running over 2100 fps. The middle load gave about 1800 fps, as I remember. The squirrel load ran about 1250 fps and used Unique (4.0 grs). All three loads would stay in the 10 ring at 50 yards in the NRA smallbore target "all day long". 
The "x" count was not high but they were sure tens.
