I have just got my 1st trapdoor, an excellent condition 1888 rod bayo model. the few shots i have loaded, were triple 7 behind a lube wad and 405 PP bullet. but my bullet was sized .458 and i carrosafe'd my chamber/bore and it reads .459". I got some 4" 100yd groups, so now I want to use some cast .459" and triple 7, anybody here use this powder in their 'traps'???

Glad i can come over from the swed/swiss/marlin forums and 'get in' with the group! Grin

Kaintuck,

  Welcome to the Forum!

Can't help you with the Triple 7, but I would recommend you size your bullets to .460". That is if you can still chamber the cartridge after loading it. Trapdoors come in a variety of bore sizes, up to some I've seen at .464", and you couldn't get a round chambered when the proper sized bullet was used. Sizing your bullets from .001" to .0015" over groove size is what most will use when shooting black or the imitations.
