FWIT ----

I spoke with Steve Earle today re. sale of his actions. Thur. he received deposits for two actions, yeaterday he received two more orders and today a man ordered two more actions. Ron Snover ( noted bbl. maker) advised his clients to buy the Wesson #1 action and placed orders for five. The original 34 actions Steve started with are well past being sold out !!  He is getting ready to start accepting orders and deposits for the next run. If any of y'all are interested, all it takes is a deposit of $250. and the bal. paid off at your convience and comfort/ I'm not sure how many of these action are already spoken for as I don't know how many orders he has over the 34 he made so I wouldn't waste time. I do know mine should here within the mo. of Jan.  Grin        FWIW,   Ken

Good for you Mr. Bob --- I heard yesterday that your order had tirned up. He will be getting another order from Australia soon . A Fellow shooter (Cam) from Aus. wrote me yesterday after reading about this action & said he wanted one & was going to order same. I tell you the yruth, I have never seen an action so well made !!!   The action will arrive to you hand polished ready for engraving. Steve only polishes by hand with wet or dry paper to 400 grit. Like everything else he does, Steve knows only one way --- the best , time tested way.  Sounds like you have a real Gem of a wife there brother --- kinda like mine. We are truly blessed !!  Now, save yourself some money and get your wood from Cecil Fredi ------------  Oh Heck,   call me and I'll give you some leads on where to get all the services and equipment you'll need at a great price & quality.   Ken 252-795-6670 EST

Many of us are using the Hornady 405 Win. brass in .408 barrels, 40-70ss.  Simply shorten the brass, use .408 (not .409) in a Shiloh chamber.  I hear rumors of several guys that are going to chamber for the 40-72 Winchester, which essentially is the 405 Winchester with very minor differences.  All in the .408 barrel format.  So I wouldn't be surprised to see several 405 Winchester chambered rifles on the silhouette lines soon.  It should simplify the 40-70ss process and make for a great rifle.

From what I've seen concerning this fine action, it will be usable with any chambering we would be interested in. What calibers were available in the original F. Wesson rifles?

Scott,   go to the BPCR.net site and look up Steve' action on the second page --- there are about 10 great close-up pictures there & additional info.  It will hold anything that has a rim. Please call (252-795-6670 EST) me and I'll fill you in on it. I have worked with Steve since the beginning on this action.  I badgered him for about a year before he started to make one.  He wasn't convinced it would sell & now it has gone crazy. Believe me,   this is the finest action & work I have ever seen in my 46 years as an engraver.  I have a Rigby and a Boss here now that are superb but, not as well made as this Wesson action !  Looking for those cart. seaters but they haven't arrived yet.   Ken

Ken,

Will give you a shout on Mon. Should have the seaters out by Tuesday. Got side tracked with a couple of projects that took priority including a problematic sewage lift/ejector pump..... (you don't want to know)  Shocked

I may consider parting with my Browning Creedmore and could be tempted to divert part of the proceeds from its liquidation to obtain one of these gorgeous actions for a future project.
