I have seen mention of Rodney Storie ss action castings in several threads, but no contact information.  I am interested in machining an action.  Can someone tell me how I can contact this fellow?

his phone # 405-214-4477 and his e-mail rodneystorie@hotmail.com . They calling him in the morning, as he has a night job-he is hard to get a hold of sometimes, so keep trying. Just a throught-these are unfinished castings, so don't even think of ordering a set unless you have a lathe w/milling attachment and a 1/2" drill press. Nothing less will do-a file and a hand drill won't do the job. They are nice castings for those who, like me, know how to machine steel. i
built live steam engines before i got into this, so i know how to machine castings, many persons don't. The first thing you will find is you must file or mill a flat surface on one side to start with because all castings have taper or "draft", otherwise they could never be removed from the molds. Just a tip.

Thanks, singleshot.  I will try the number.  I like you have built a number of steam and IC engines from castings as well as a lot of my machine tooling.

I have a Farrow, Redfield, D.S. Cole and a Hepburn from Rodney. You have been given the absolute truth about having to do quite a bit of work to finish them. I have Steve Durren doing my Cole, Glenn Fewless has just finished my Hepburn. Rodney did the Redfield and a friend did the Farrow. I have no complaints with the actions and you will be satisfied if they are done correctly. Oh yeah,  Rodney is sending me a Wesson /center hung hammer mid range he built for his self I'm getting in trade for some engraving.     Ken

I just got off the phone with Wes Stanley who is marketing Rodneys castings.  Apparently Rodney is concentrating on casting and machining the actions and parts now and has turned over the sales end of things to Wes.  The business is called Frontier Armory and the phone # is 405-794-9171.  I bought a tuning fork palmrest casting set from him.  It was interesting to hear about all the products they offer.  I had no idea so many of these old single shot actions are being reproduced.  I have always wanted a Sharps Borchardt DST pistol grip rifle and they have the action for sale.  I sure am tempted to buy the castings and put it away until I have the cash saved to have it fitted and built up.

Information in this thread allowed me to contact Frontier Arms today.  They had been selling through eBay, until eBay decided even bare castings violated their no-gun policy.  For those interested, I'll copy here the list of action castings they told me they can supply.  The prices run from $180 to $330, depending on the complexity of the action.  He said Storie is working on more actions for release this year.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Does anyone have a general idea of what it might cost to have these parts machined into a finished action, such as the Ballard PG action? This may be the only affordable way I can get into one! Grin

What are the legal problems with a person machining casting for someone else?
