Rem Hepburn help

Guys,

Need a little help.  Two things.  I have a 38-55 Hepburn  and need a rear barrell  sight.  There is a narrow dove tail there not a standard 3/8.   It has a Tang mounted sight.  I am sure the orginal owner took off the bbl sight.  Does anyone know where I can get one?

Also would like to get a breach seatter  for this rifle.  Any Ideas?

Who has a good reference book out on Hepburns?

Thanks,
Jon

I would sugest you check in the ASSRA Journal or SSX for sources that offer mechanical seaters. You might find a rear sight by advertising for one on this web site under wanted to buy sect.  There is no book out on the Hepburn that I am aware of. Perhaps you should contact the Rem. collectors assoc. aboutthese interest.   Ken

DeHaas' book, Single Shot Rifles and Actions, has a decent section on Hepburns. Like most of his writings, he covers in details the history, strong and weak points, and gunsmithing tips. I found it really helpful when rebuilding my Hepburn.
