Does anyone have a email or contact info for a source of re-decappers of the old Pope style? Looking for something I can use that looks correct for the period.

Try this web site for the Meacham Rifle Co. They make what you're looking for plus with the added feature of being able to use RCBS shell holders.

I have a Meacham and I like it just fine, but I use the ones made by Jerry Simmons.  The only contacts I have had with him are at Etna Green.  Perhaps someone on the wire will have contact information for Jake.

marlinguy, I believe I have Jake's (Jerry Simmons') snail mail address at home somewhere...I'm pretty sure he doesn't do the email thing.  I'm at work now, but will look for it tonight.

I use the Meacham but I think you will find it cheaper to purchase from Buffalo Arms!

marlinguy, I still haven't come across Jake's (Simmons) address, but I can get it from Charlie Dell as soon as he gets back from Asheville tomorrow night.  Also, if you have a copy of the Single Shot Exchange, I think he still advertises in there, and they are also carried by Dixie Gun Works, although at a slightly higher price.  Undecided

Buffalo Arms doesn't carry the Meacham in either their online or paper catalog. They have the Pope style, which is $99.

Marlin Guy Buffalo Arms Pope Style Re-De Capper Is The Meacham, It Does Look Like The Price Went Up From The Last Time I Looked Though. I Own One And It Is A Nice Tool! 

Keep In Mind All You Have To Do Is Buy Different De-Capping Rods And Shell Holders To Fit All Your Needs From 25 Cal On Up To 50 Cal. 

I Bought The Meacham To Use With My 32 Miller Short,32-40,38-55,40-65 & 25 Hornet. One Tool Does It All !

The Simmons Is A Dedicated Tool !

His re and de can be used for many cal.  Mine I use for 32-40, 25-20 SS and can be used for many more. It takes different heads is all.

Hey schuetzen, while the tools originally sold by Stevens and Pope were "dedicated" for one caliber, Jake modified the design to use a special screw-on shell holder (that is unique to this tool) and interchangeable primer stems as well.  The Pope - Allen design, as sold by Meacham, Buffalo, et al, is a modification of the Simmons modification, and while it uses standard shell holders, it seems harder to me to change calibers than with the Simmons...I have a couple of the latter and about 8 shell holders and 5 stems to cover about anything I am likely to load.  I have been using the first of the two for over 10 years now and it has a nice patina that shows it has really been out there. I review the new ones as they come along, but I keep going back to my Simmons.   Wink

Thanks for all the great info guys! I'll have to think about which one I want, and then get the setups for various calibers I reload for. 
I don't shoot competitively, but I like to reload at the range, so I can work up loads for each rifle. My present tool uses RCBS dies and shellholders in a large hand press, and it's a bit awkward to re-decap shells.

Has anyone tried the D.A.T.depriming tool that Buffalo Arms advertises . It fits on the lee auto prime tool . I was wondering how it worked . DGC27

Some of the guys I shoot BPC Silhouettes with use the DAT, and it seems to work OK.  For a de-primer, I prefer the ones made by Jim Kluskens (Distant Thunder).  Nice piece of equipment, and won't break the bank...I think they're around 40 bucks.  I reprime with a RCBS tool.
